Food directly affects students’ health, learning and well-being. It can also play a vital role in driving positive change in our food culture
We at Al Maha Academy for Boys, place a high priority on school food policy because we recognise its power.
Nutritious school food helps students develop lifelong healthy eating habits. It also contributes to a culture of wellness at school, reinforcing nutrition education messages from teachers. Healthy school food can also increase school connectedness and reinforce to children, families and community that students’ health and well-being are valued.

Healthy meals support schools’ core mission of education, especially when it comes to boosting students’ concentration, focus and cognitive function. A vast body of research shows that improved nutrition in foods leads to increased focus and attention, improved test scores and better classroom behaviour.

Food Tasting Session

As part of our continual wish to improve the school environment and food, the Food and Quality Supervisor is performing food tasting in the school from new companies. One session took place last May-June.

Students, staff and members of parents' committee were invited to the food tasting session:

  • 2 students per grade for Primary and Secondary
  • Staff members, Head of Department and Admin. Employees
  • And 2 members from the parents' committee.

The aim of this activity is to have an idea of the opinion of students. It is really important for us to have feedback on the taste of the food and to ensure that the students enjoy their break time with healthy and tasty items.
