Dear Parents and Students

Welcome back to Al Maha Academy for Boys after the long summer break.  I hope that you are now refreshed, well rested and ready to start another year full of new challenges and, hopefully, even more successes.

As is often the case at this time of year, there will be a number of fresh faces around the Academy as we are joined by new colleagues for the academic year.  Each one has been carefully chosen for the skills and experiences they bring with the aim of continuing our drive to become the first choice school for families in Doha.

Included in this letter are some key points about school systems and information that you and your child will find useful in the days ahead.  If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy and ask to speak with one of the Heads of House or Admin Supervisors.

Should you need to discuss curriculum issues such as lesson content or home learning, Heads of Department will be pleased to speak with you – please make an appointment with my PA, Miss Rawan.  Should your issue remain unresolved, please arrange with Miss Rawan to see either Mr Osman (Deputy Head of Secondary) or myself.

Finally, I would like to wish your son every success in his studies this year.  We will support, guide and challenge each and every learner to achieve their best and encourage you to support us in doing the same.

My very best wishes,

Andy Hubble

Head of secondary

Mobile Phones

Please note mobile phones are not permitted during the school day. Phones accidentally left in bags or pockets must be checked in with a designated staff member (Head of House or Admin Supervisor) and collected at the end of the day. If a phone is seen or heard, it will be confiscated and only returned to a parent/guardian once they come to collect it from school. Please note the school is not responsible for any loss/damage to mobile phones brought into school.

Please take note of the school uniform. Students must wear a white shirt and navy blue trousers along with black shoes to school. On days when students have Physical Education they may wear navy track bottoms with a white polo top (please see diagram).

Unfortunately, in cases where students persistently fail to wear the correct uniform, the child will be sent home.

Rewards system

Home Learning: Information about topics covered during the semester and weekly home learning tasks will be published on the academy website each Thursday.  Students should ensure that they check this regularly and we ask that parents support their children to complete home learning tasks to the best of their ability.
